COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

LEELA KATHAK offers performances, lecture demos about Kathak and its traditional stories and participatory workshops for school classrooms, libraries, community centers, senior centers and other venues. Over the years we have performed kathak dance in full costume with live musical accompaniment on traditional indian instruments. We have led participatory workshops in classrooms from Pre-school to High School.

LEELA KATHAK brings India’s rich culture into the classrooms and centers where people can experience the fabric arts and clothing, create visual arts such as traditional chalk drawings (rangoli) and Warli stick figures and learn about indian musical traditions.

The students and other members of LEELA KATHAK will bring this rich cultural history to your world. The presenters are dancers, experienced teachers, storytellers and musicians.

Let us know of your interest and we will arrange a planning meeting. There is no fee for our work. Thanks to The City of Seattle Office of Arts and Culture and King County 4 Culture Grants we are able to offer these opportunities.
